Hello my name is Steven and welcome back to the Hallowed Cast. This week lets talk movies. More specifically Horror Movies. I would consider myself a beginner horror movie enthusiast. I haven't seen every horror movie out there, there's some that could be called required watching that I haven't seen, but I love horror movies. And over the past month or so I've done my best to watch as many creepy, scary, gory movies I can. Horror Movies and Halloween go together like haunted cursed locations and ancient burial grounds. Each one is great onto itself but when mixed they create the perfect ambiance. I've loved Horror Movies for as long as I can remember. I mentioned last week, things I enjoy most pull on my nostalgic heart strings and horror movies are definitely one of them. Growing up, we lived with my uncle and grandma. My mom and dad were young when they had me, so growing up I was surrounded by 25-35 year olds who were raising me. And THEY loved horror movies, so I remember watching horror movies way younger than most. It was always an event, we would all gather in the living room, the lights turned off, popcorn, snacks and fun drinks ready to go and I was ready to be scared. Now I would always get a warning from my parents. "This is a scary movie, if you're going to watch this then you'll still have to sleep in your room." Or, "If this keeps you up because you get too scared you'll still have to go to school tomorrow." Warnings I of course ignored. But as I grew up my love of horror movies stayed with me.

Now Horror Movies can be divvied up into a whole lot of sub-genres, slasher, demonic, paranormal, vampire, psychological, zombie, comedy. And those can be mixed and matched to create the perfect horror movie for anyone. Which is why I think, EVERYONE should, at least like horror movies!

For me, ONE of my favorite horror movies is SCREAM. Directed by the master himself Wes Craven Scream is an homage to the slasher genre that Craven helped create. It makes fun of and pays tribute to the 80's slashers like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Now as I said, being raised by those who grew up in the 80's and were fans of horror I am well versed in the classics. Which is definitely one reason why Scream is a favorite of mine. But more so than those others is because it was a great slasher for my generation.

It was my generations Friday the 13th. They had their masked crazed serial killers like Jason and Michael Myers and now we had one, Ghost Face. Its like Wes Craven made a movie for those that grew up just like me. Those who were into horror but only had experienced it in a past participle. Now we had something of our own to show OUR kids. Scream is the perfect combination of camp and horror. My favorite character is Randy, the character that represents all of us horror fans. It's a must watch for me every so often, it's definitely something I recommend for keeping the spooky going all year long!

Thank you for joining me on this weeks Hallowed Cast.
